Manchester United ace Ashley Young is showing the club they do not need to sign Danny Rose from Tottenham.
Up until last night, Manchester United had appeared to be Danny Rose’s most likely escape route from Tottenham.
But suddenly the Red Devils’ need for Danny Rose is not so great.
Ashley Young’s renaissance continues, with the winger turned full-back continuing to win the favour of Jose Mourinho.
After scoring a winner against Brighton at the weekend, Young netted two goals against former side Watford to inspire a win over a previously impressive Hornets side.
Young is not only winning Mourinho’s faith, but he has won over the fans who believed he should have been sold in the summer, and recently earned an England recall.
So it would be harsh for United to go and spend big money on Danny Rose in January, who has looked off the pace since his return from injury for Spurs.
Rose is five years younger than Young, so he would be more of an option beyond this season, but if planning for the future, United may be better off looking at Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon.
United keeping Young and discarding their pursuit of Rose would be difficult for the Tottenham ace, with The Gambling Times reporting this week that manager Mauricio Pochettino is willing to sell him in January.
It is not just at club level where Young’s form is worrying for Rose.
He is in the race for the England squad at the World Cup, and could go onto deny Rose a place in Russia.
If Gareth Southgate were making a decision now, it would be the rejuvenated Red Devils ace who would get the nod.
