A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been speaking about how he will decide if loanee Radamel Falcao has a future at Old Trafford.
In comments published by the Daily Mail, the former Netherlands coach said, “I shall not only judge on the goals. It is a bigger view than that.
“There are more aspects for a striker; an assist is an aspect and being available on the pitch for your fellow players is also an aspect.”
Falcao has only scored four goals for United since his loan move from AS Monaco, but he has also set up an additional four and his ability is not in doubt.
The big question is, can he form an effective and long-term partnership with Robin van Persie or – if he is allowed to play up front in the future – Wayne Rooney?
In other news, ESPN report that United have opened talks with winger Ashley Young over a possible new deal.
The former Aston Villa wide-man has had a hit-and-miss time at Old Trafford thus far but he has looked more consistent in a wing-back position and with his current deal soon to expire, it seems the club are keen to tie him to a new one.
