According to The Mirror, Manchester United are hoping to secure a deal for Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon, and will battle Tottenham for his signature.
Sessegnon, 17, has come up through the ranks at Craven Cottage and has become one of English football’s brightest young talents during his time with the club.

This past season was Sessegnon’s first campaign in the Championship, and he ended up with seven goals and three assists 30 appearances in all competitions; an impressive record at his age.
Now, The Mirror report that Manchester United intend to battle Tottenham for Sessegnon’s signature, with Jose Mourinho allegedly looking to land him as competition for Luke Shaw in a possible £15million deal.

Whilst a move to Old Trafford is appealing for almost every player in the world, Sessegnon would actually be better off staying in London and joining Tottenham, given a host of factors involved in the deal.
Mourinho’s record when it comes to developing young players is far from stellar, with the likes of Shaw and Anthony Martial failing to make an impression under Mourinho this season – and that’s a stark contrast to Mauricio Pochettino.

The Spurs boss has developed the likes of Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Harry Kane, and that should be appealing to Sessegnon, who will be hoping to emulate Alli in rising from Football League to Premier League stardom.
Tottenham have finished above United two years in a row now, and can offer Sessegnon a stay in London, which may well be appealing at this stage in his career, offering him some sort of stability off the pitch.
A left wing back role in Pochettino’s 3-4-2-1 system should also appeal to Sessegnon, and the youngster would be foolish to snub Spurs for United right now.
