Manchester United are reportedly keen on RB Leipzig’s Paul Mitchell.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester United are looking at RB Leipzig’s Paul Mitchell as a potential candidate to become their technical director.
The Red Devils are looking to revamp their backroom setup, with Ed Woodward now looking to lure a technical director to work above Jose Mourinho and aid United’s transfer business.
United struggled in the transfer market over the summer, and it seems that they now feel that the appointment of a technical director can help them avoid similar problems in the future.
A host of names have been linked with the post, including Edwin van der Sar and Dan Ashworth, but RB Leipzig head of recruitment Mitchell is a fascinating suggestion given his history with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Manchester-born scout spent time in the Southampton ranks before following Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham in 2014, having helped the Saints through one of their most impressive spells of recruitment.
Mitchell is in-part credited for moves which saw Spurs snap up Toby Alderweireld, Dele Alli, Kieran Trippier and Son Heung-min before handing in his resignation in 2016 having seen his suggestions overlooked.
Mitchell is now continuing to learn his craft, having made a move to Germany with one of Europe’s savviest market operators in RB Leipzig, and a potential move to United would surely strike some fear into Spurs and Daniel Levy.

A reunion with Pochettino seems unlikely given the manner of Mitchell’s exit, but United have been seeking a centre back and a winger, which could put Alderweireld and Son right onto the United radar should Mitchell head to Old Trafford.
Depending on the future of Paul Pogba, Alli may be another sensible target for United, and ex-Manchester City talent Trippier would figure as an ideal Antonio Valencia replacement depending on Diogo Dalot’s development.
With major funds at his disposal at United, Spurs would surely have to fear seeing Mitchell return to North London to snatch Tottenham talents, with Levy possibly hoping United look elsewhere.
