When Aaron Wan-Bissaka left Crystal Palace in 2019 to join Manchester United in a £50m deal, he seemed destined for an England call-up.
The 24-year-old was among the leading right-backs in Europe statistically, but unfortunately, things haven’t gone too well at Old Trafford.
Wan-Bissaka is yet to receive the call from Gareth Southgate, while Ralf Rangnick has also benched him in recent weeks with Diogo Dalot preferred.
Now, the Manchester United No.29 will surely be devastated by news coming from his former side Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Well, Tyrick Mitchell – who hadn’t even made his Premier League debut until after Wan-Bissaka left – has been called up by England.
The 22-year-old has shone for the Eagles this season, catching the eye with his remarkable defensive ability.
In many ways, he is similar to Wan-Bissaka.
Now, the Manchester United defender may be kicking himself that he left Crystal Palace so prematurely.

Clearly, Wan-Bissaka still had some developing to do, and he would’ve been in a much better environment to learn had he remained at Selhurst Park, away from the pressures of Manchester United.
Mitchell’s call-up proves that you don’t have to be playing for the biggest sides to attract Southgate, so Wan-Bissaka may be feeling a tinge of regret.
Crystal Palace should re-sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka
In our view, the south Londoners should make a move for Wan-Bissaka.
Patrick Vieira doesn’t really have any outstanding right-back options, with Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne competing for the role.

Both are solid professionals, although they are 32 and 30 years of age respectively, so they aren’t long-term options.
Nathan Ferguson could be, although his injury problems seem to be quite serious and might scupper his chances of a career in the Premier League.
Therefore, if Manchester United decide to find something different to Wan-Bissaka at right-back, Crystal Palace should try their luck with a bid.
