Leeds United want Brandon Williams and Manchester United have now told the defender that is free to leave the club.

Manchester United are happy to let Brandon Williams leave the club as Daniel Farke chases a Leeds United reunion.

That is according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that Williams has now been told that he is free to leave United permanently.

The Red Devils want to axe both Eric Bailly and Williams in permanent deals as they focus on trimming Erik ten Hag’s squad.

Williams has no future at United and the Premier League giants have now decided that it’s best he moves on.

22-year-old Williams hails from Harpurhey in Greater Manchester and has been in the United ranks since the age of just eight.

Leaving his beloved United won’t be easy for Williams but it’s a decision he simply has to make for the good of his career.

Williams turns 23 in just a couple of weeks and he needs regular playing time in order to really kickstart his career.

Leeds United boosted in Brandon Williams chase

This news will be a real boost for Leeds United, who are looking to lure Williams to Elland Road this summer.

The Independent claimed just a fortnight ago that Leeds are keen to snap up Williams to bolster their back line.

Williams being able to play at left back and right back may really appeal to Leeds, especially after missing out on Max Aarons to Bournemouth.

A key note here is that Williams has already played under Leeds boss Daniel Farke at Norwich City.

Farke joined Farke’s Norwich side on loan in 2021, spending the 2021-22 campaign at Carrow Road.

Farke suggested that the defender was ‘full of potential’ after securing the deal but Williams didn’t actually feature all that much.

Williams only played seven times under Farke before the German was sacked and replaced with Dean Smith.

Farke may well have seen enough in Williams’ game to believe that he can really kick on in the Championship though with Manchester United ready to cash in.
