Manchester United now want to sign Arsenal target Marc Guehi this summer following his standout performances for Crystal Palace.

The England international has developed into one of the Premier League’s best defenders since swapping Chelsea for Crystal Palace in an £18m deal back in July 2021.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United and Arsenal are also joined by Tottenham in the race to sign Guehi.

What’s the story?

Well, Crystal Palace could be losing a key player this summer as England’s elite circle around Guehi.

The Daily Mail believe the south Londoners will demand a minimum of £50m from Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham, which could ignite a bidding war between the trio.

Chelsea are entitled to 20% of any fee Crystal Palace receive due to their sell-on agreement.

The Athletic claim that Chelsea also have the right to match any bid Crystal Palace receive for Guehi, so the three-way transfer battle could even become a four-club race.

Arsenal in the driving seat to sign Guehi ahead of Manchester United & Spurs

In our view, Arsenal are in the best position to sign Guehi this summer.

Manchester United are still in the middle of a potential takeover with bids arriving from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim, with that uncertainty at boardroom level unlikely to be helpful during the transfer window.

In regards to Tottenham, the north Londoners are yet to replace Antonio Conte, while they also do not have a Director of Football after Fabio Paratici was banned for 30 months due to false accounting.

Therefore, Arsenal – who are far more settled and looking forward to a return to the Champions League next season – seem to be in the best shape to make a serious bid for Guehi.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
