Newcastle United, Arsenal, Manchester City and even Barcelona are all interested in the youngster.
He has been described as the most naturally gifted youngster to come through the ranks at Old Trafford since Paul Scholes.
But as is so often seen in football, natural genius comes with its flaws.
Morrison was handed a court order last year for witness intimidation, after getting ‘mixed up in the wrong crowd.’
Today’s Telegraph report that United are getting fed up with his errant attitude behind the scenes, and his contract runs down this summer.
Newcastle United had a bid of £500,000 turned down for him over the weekend, and rightly so, at that price he would be a steal.
Now Sir Alex Ferguson has dealt with complex personalities before, and if anyone has a chance of getting Morrison into the right place it is him.
It was late last January Morrison received his 12-month referral order, and after a further offence in May, he was warned one more would result in jail.
So perhaps United are simply being prudent, allowing the court order to wind down, fearing offering him a big contract, only for him to end up behind bars.
It would make more financial sense for a club like United to wait until this period is over, but at the same time with Morrison’s volatile persona, they are risking his head being turned by other clubs and losing him for good.
The nightmare for United is he ends up at City, or even Arsenal.
For all United’s ‘give kids a chance’ policy, Morrison has found chances tough to come by, despite the club’s injury problems.
He has made two substitute appearances this season, impressing at Aldershot, and finding things a bit tougher against Crystal Palace.
The attacking midfielder scored the goals which led to United winning last season’s FA Youth Cup, evidence of his raw talent, which can be seen on Youtube. He has also performed for England at numerous youth levels.
For these reasons, and out of fear of losing the next generations breakout star, United must continue their patience, and offer Morrison a contract to stay and playing opportunities.
