Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has pledged his devotion to the club on Instagram, despite reports of an imminent departure.
Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard has appeared to make a point about where he wants his future to be, following reports that the club are preparing to ship him out.
The back-up shot-stopper took to his Instagram to post an artistic image of himself standing outside the Old Trafford tunnel with a message reading: ‘Follow the light #Loyalty #manchesterunited #mufc #oldtrafford’.
Lindegaard, 30, was signed from Norwegian club Aalesunds FK in 2010 for around £3.5 million, but the arrival of David De Gea the following summer has seen his first-team opportunities limited.
The Danish international made just three appearances last season and is still to start a game under Louis van Gaal this term, with Dutchman now keen on bringing former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes to the club.
Valdes has been training with United’s first-team for the past week as he recovers from a torn anterior cruciate ligament which prevented him from finding a new team this summer, and is expected to complete a move as a free agent within the coming weeks.
His addition would make Lindegaard surplus to requirements, and it seems doubtful that the Dane will be given a chance to prove his worth over the next couple of months.
