Manchester United have reportedly told Tottenham that they’re willing to walk away from a deal for Harry Kane if talks develop into a transfer battle.

According to the Daily Star, the Old Trafford side have put their stall out early for the England captain and made Daniel Levy aware that they will not be drawn into prolonged negotiations for Kane, who is emerging as United’s top target for the summer.

The 29-year-old is expected to leave Tottenham this summer having endured another trophyless season and the north London side in complete turmoil, with Cristian Stellini recently being sacked as interim manager as Fabio Paratici saw his international ban from football come into effect.

With Tottenham in such a mess, Kane looks ready to finally depart his boyhood club, with a move to Manchester with United currently the most likely move for Spurs’ record-goalscorer, yet the Red Devils are keen to ensure that talks don’t drag out throughout the summer.

Indeed, Levy has established himself as one of the toughest negotiators in football in the past few years, and United know they face quite the challenge ahead if they’re to sign arguably Tottenham’s best-ever player in the Premier League era.

Kane looks set to depart Tottenham this summer regardless of what the north London side manage to do over the summer, yet for Levy, the Spurs chairman will stop at nothing to keep the England forward at the club, which will make United’s mission to land the attacker an impressive coup to pull off.

Whilst this summer is likely the easiest window any club will ever have in trying to sign Kane, the likes of United are fully aware that Tottenham won’t go down without a fight, and the Manchester side stating that they won’t be dragged into a drawn-out battle for the forward speaks volume over their confidence.
