Julen Lopetegui has been linked with Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, but he is now being pushed towards Manchester United.
That’s according to the Manchester Evening News, who claim that agent Jorge Mendes is pushing for Lopetegui to be United’s new manager.
United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday morning and must now find a replacement.
Few have really spoken about Lopetegui as a potential replacement, but agent Mendes is sensing an opportunity.
Whether United actually take Mendes up on his offer remains to be seen, but Lopetegui is a name to keep an eye on.
Leeds and Tottenham have been linked with Lopetegui
Lopetegui looks unlikely to land the job if we’re being honest, even though he won the Europa League with Sevilla in 2020.
The Spaniard has though been linked with Premier League moves in the last year.
Tottenham targeted a move for Lopetegui after parting ways with Jose Mourinho.

El Confidencial reported that Tottenham made a huge financial offer to Lopetegui, but he turned it down to stay at Sevilla.
The Sun even claimed in July that Leeds view Lopetegui as their ideal candidate to replace Marcelo Bielsa in the future.
With Bielsa turning 67 in 2022, Leeds have one eye on his successor – and Lopetegui is allegedly their top choice.
United could ruin that plan by appointing Lopetegui, but that surely wouldn’t appease the frustrated fans at Old Trafford.
