Piero Hincapie is a player in demand, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool linked with the Bayer Leverkusen central defender.
According to The Mirror, Liverpool wanted to sign Piero Hincapie in the summer transfer window and are keen on bringing the central defender to Anfield in the January transfer window.
Liverpool want Piero Hincapie
The report has claimed that Liverpool are “already laying the groundwork for a potential January deal” for Hincapie.
Hincapie has been on the books of Bayer since 2021.
The 21-year-old Ecuador international has made three substitute appearances in the Bundesliga and has made one start and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League this season.

The young centre-back scored one goal and gave one assist in 27 starts and three substitute appearances in the Bundesliga last season.
Hincapie also played five times in the UEFA Champions League and eight times in the UEFA Europa League last season.
My View: Liverpool could struggle to sign Piero Hincapie in January
In my view, Liverpool could struggle to get a deal done for Piero Hincapie in the January transfer window.
Yes, we know that Liverpool are a big club and are hugely appealing to any footballer.
But, Bayer Leverkusen are a big club as well and are doing extremely well at the moment.
Bayer are at the top of the Bundesliga table with 19 points from seven matches.
Xabi Alonso’s side are a point above second-placed VfB Stuttgart and two points clear of defending champions Bayern Munich in third.
So, why would Bayer sell a player like Hincapie in the middle of the season and jeopardise their chances of a potential Bundesliga title success?
I believe that if Liverpool were to sign Hincapie, then they would have to wait until the summer of 2024.
