The Mirror have published selective extracts from Wayne Rooney’s upcoming autobiography revealing his personal anecdotes with Manchester United over the past decade. Rooney’s My Decade in the Premier League, released on 13th September, reveals how he was fined and dropped last season from a New Year’s Eve game against Blackburn for enjoying a meal and a drink on Boxing Day six days before the ensuing game. The book sheds light on his injury struggles and the exertions of the Premier League as well as taking on a lighter note with his revelation to teammates that he would be undergoing a hair transplant.
Manchester United have submitted their squad lists for the Premier League season. Darren Fletcher has encouragingly been included in the squad following an extended lay-off with a bowel condition. United submitted 24 names for the maximum 25-man squad and will not be allowed to alter the selections until January. Players under the age of 21 are eligible for Premier League action regardless of inclusion in the squad.

United have announced the completion of the transfer of Chilean Angelo Henriquez. The 18-year-old has been allocated the no. 21 shirt and Sir Alex Ferguson is optimistic that the striker will develop into a top striker for the club. Revealing that the club have monitored Henriquez since the age of 14, Ferguson spoke of the club’s intent to acquire the player at the earliest stage possible. Henriquez in turn expressed his delight in joining ‘the biggest club in the world’.
Paul Scholes believes the depth of the current United squad furnishes United manager Sir Alex Ferguson with two teams that could challenge for trophies. The midfielder contended that new additions in the summer have revitalised the squad and singled out Shinji Kagawa: ‘He’s a top class player who did great in Germany and we’re lucky to have him’.
And Ashley Young has hailed United’s other major new signing Robin Van Persie as a ‘world-class striker’ following his hat-trick against Southampton on Sunday. Young praises Van Persie as an all-round talent who can provide goals as much as score them and expressed his excitement of playing with a potent striking force.
Santos have refuted reports of United’s £38m deadline day move for Neymar. The Sun exclusive revealed this morning that United had offered £38m for the Brazilian 20-year-old but Santos football director Felipe Faro has rejected such claims: ‘I have no idea where that came from but it’s not true’.
And finally, Manchester United supporter Usain Bolt is to finally get his wish. He told how Sir Alex Ferguson has promised him a run out in a Red Devils shirt in a charity game next summer against Real Madrid, to ‘show what he can do’.
Sir Alex Ferguson has told the club’s magazine Inside United that Usain Bolt could appear in a United shirt in a charity game next year. Bolt has already visited United’s Carrington training ground twice and on one occasion helped Cristiano Ronaldo in his sprinting technique. Last week the Jamaican sprinter was presented to the Old Trafford crowd but the athlete could make a playing appearance on the field next year against Real Madrid Legends.
