David Moyes
Leon Osman has been discussing David Moyes’ ‘sour’ move from Everton to Manchester United.
The Scot left the Toffees to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson as United boss last year, although his tenure lasted less than a season as he was unceremoniously axed by the club.
Osman insists that Moyes left Everton in the right way, informing his players that it was not an offer he knew about for very long.
However, the midfielder admits there is plenty of bitterness among fans about how the 51-year-old joined Man United, as well as his signing of Marouane Fellaini and attempts to recruit Leighton Baines.
“It’s disappointing how sour it has since turned between the fans and Moyes after he bought Fellaini and tried to get Leighton Baines,” Osman wrote in his new autobiography.
“He should be welcomed back to Goodison whenever he wants to come – but it’s not the case at the moment and that’s really upsetting. I’m disappointed in it all.
“Far too much was made of what happened with Fellaini and Baines. Moyes was doing what we had employed him to do for all those years — strengthen his squad in whatever way he saw fit. It shouldn’t be a surprise.”
Meanwhile, Moyes is reportedly being considered as a candidate for the Real Sociedad manager’s job.
