Manchester United want Jude Bellingham and still believe that they can tempt the Borussia Dortmund ace into making a big move to Old Trafford.
That’s according to BBC Sport, with some inside United believing they still have a major chance of securing a deal.
It’s noted that United gave Bellingham a tour of their Carrington training ground when he was deciding on his next club after Birmingham City.
Bellingham ended up choosing a move to Germany with Borussia Dortmund and has now become an absolute superstar over in the Bundesliga.
United were confident of signing Bellingham back then but it just never happened – and the Red Devils are preparing to enter the race once again.
The report claims that United believe they can make a ‘compelling case’ for Bellingham to join them and seemingly just want the opportunity to hold talks.
Once it gets to that stage, United think they have a real chance of convincing Bellingham to choose Old Trafford over any other destination – such as Anfield…
Manchester United prepare to fight Liverpool for Bellingham
A key player in this race is Liverpool.
The Reds have been chasing Bellingham for some time now and appear to be placing huge focus on signing him in 2023.
The Mirror even claim that Bellingham’s father Mark is currently favouring a move to Liverpool.
Bellingham junior is his own man and will ultimately make the decision for himself but his father’s input means a lot.
Bellingham’s dad encouraged the move to Dortmund in 2020 despite that VIP treatment from United, so the Red Devils may be a little worried here.
You can certainly imagine Bellingham featuring in the United midfield though, breaking forward to attack whilst having Casemiro doing the defensive work behind him.
United also want Barcelona’s Frankie de Jong, with Ten Hag and co seemingly ready to spend big on a midfielder in 2023.
Liverpool fans will just hope that Bellingham doesn’t end up becoming their top target.
