Manchester United are linked with a move for Sokratis Papastathopoulos but what about their alleged interest in the Tottenham Hotspur player?

Manchester United are reportedly very keen on signing Borussia Dortmund’s impressive defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos, according to a report from German outlet Sport 1, and it looks as though the deal could bring an end to speculation surrounding Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld.
The 29-year-old Greek international has one-year remaining on his current contract and Jose Mourinho is said to have held talks with his representatives regarding a summer move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils looked as though they had made Tottenham’s Belgian star their priority signing this window, although yesterday’s jump in the player’s valuation could have deterred the Premier League runners-up from pushing forward with the deal – at a reported £75 million (Daily Mirror).
Arsenal are also reportedly keen on landing Sokratis this window, as Unai Emery begins his re-modelling of the Gunners’ squad, although it is said that this very interest is the reason United have stepped up their enquiries so early.

Ironically, it could be Emery that decides the fate of one of Tottenham’s best players this summer then.
If United land the Greek defender, they are sure to end negotiations with Spurs, but if Arsenal land his signature, Mourinho will likely revisit the deal in his quest for a quality defensive addition.
