Manchester United managed to hold Liverpool to a draw on Sunday night, but fans will be left feeling that it could have been so much more.

The Red Devils weren’t given much of a chance heading into the game, as they had lost 1-0 to Newcastle United last time out, whereas Liverpool had won every league game this season.

However, United did go ahead through Marcus Rashford, as he tucked home a Daniel James cross to open the scoring, with a little VAR controversy in the build-up.

Liverpool were poor and toothless with Mohamed Salah, but did find an equaliser as Adam Lallana swooped in to score at the back from post from an Andrew Robertson cross.

United will have been disappointed to have let their lead slip so late on, but the spirited performance from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will inspire some hope for the rest of the season.

After the game, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp seemed frustrated by United’s approach, telling BBC Sport that it’s a ‘fact’ that United always just defend against his side.

United certainly set up to try and contain Liverpool and hit them on the break, but the notion that they only defend didn’t exactly go down well with supporters.

Some called him bitter and accused him of talking nonsense and making excuses, even suggesting he’s lost the plot as it’s now showed the rest of the Premier League how to play against his side moving forward.
