The Manchester United winger did not do enough against Huddersfield Town.

Manchester United suffered their first defeat of the season when they lost 2-1 away to Huddersfield Town this weekend, and few of their players should left the field with their heads held high.
Among the under-performing United stars was Jesse Lingard, who started the match in place of Henrikh Mkhitaryan but who was unable to impact the match as his manager Jose Mourinho would have hoped.

Lingard continues to divide fan opinion, with his talent unquestionable but his footballing intelligence still under scrutiny.
United should have had plenty of attacking thrust given the players on show, but Romelu Lukaku hardly got a sniff and the absence of Mkhitaryan cannot be understated, especially when Lingard failed to perform in his absence.

This was the England international’s first start in the Premier League this season and it is hard to imagine him getting another one any time soon.
United simply cannot afford any more performances like this if they want to keep pace with free-scoring Manchester City.
