Manchester United played a young side against Crystal Palace but won with relative ease.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho made no secret of his plan to play plenty of youngsters against Crystal Palace this weekend, and so it proved as the likes of Scott McTominay, Josh Harrop and Demetri Mitchell all started, the latter pair making their debuts in the process.
Mitchell came through the United youth ranks as an electrifying winger with an eye for goal, so it has been both surprising and exciting to see him develop into an effective modern-day full-back in recent times.
Mitchell started in place of Matteo Darmian on Sunday and he did not disappoint, looking every inch a first-team regular in the making.
The 20-year-old has been getting tongues wagging among the United faithful for a few years now, so they will have been delighted to finally see him in action at Old Trafford after his progress through the ranks, making 23 appearances for the under-23 side in the process.

He has a lot of competition for a starting spot when everyone is in contention, with Darmian, Luke Shaw, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo all capable of playing on the left if required, but on this evidence Mitchell has done himself no harm.
