Manchester United ended their tour of the United States with a 1-0 defeat against Barcelona in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The only goal of the game came courtesy of Neymar, but a Brazilian in United colours also got the chance to impress after coming off the bench in the second half.

Andreas Pereira replaced Henrikh Mkhitaryan shortly after the hour mark and he did not look out of place, which is no surprise when you consider the 21-year-old spent last season on loan in La Liga with Granada.

The United youngster has generated plenty of buzz among the club’s fan base for years now with supporters clamouring for him to be given a chance, and it seems he will finally get that when the competitive action kicks off next month, if only in a bit-part role.

Pereira has only managed 13 first-team appearances for United since initially breaking through, scoring one goal in the process. However after his performances during pre-season, his manager Jose Mourinho will struggle to overlook him any longer.

United have matches against Valerenga and Sampdoria before the Super Cup final against Real Madrid on 8 August and Pereira will be hoping to get more minutes in those games.
