United recorded a comfortable 3-0 win, marred only by an injury to Paul Pogba which could keep him out of action for a month.
The former Benfica defender made 84 touches and completed 93 per cent of his passes, with United’s goal rarely threatened.
He made one tackle and four clearances and could not have asked for a simpler re-introduction to the first team.
Lindelof is expected to drop back to the bench for Everton’s Premier League visit at the weekend, but his performance will give his confidence a lift and help earn Jose Mourinho’s trust.
