Romelu Lukaku scored his first Manchester United goal on Tuesday morning.

Manchester United made it two wins from two games in pre-season on Tuesday morning, as they defeated Real Salt Lake 2-1 at Rio Tinto Stadium.

The Red Devils beat Los Angeles Galaxy 5-2 over the weekend as Marcus Rashford bagged a brace, and Jose Mourinho enjoyed a second consecutive win in the United States.

Luis Silva did give Real Salt Lake a surprise lead, but United hitback before half time as Henrikh Mkhitaryan smashed home from the edge of the box for the equaliser.

United then took the lead as Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for the club, rounding goalkeeper Lalo Ferndandez before hammering the ball into the net – and whilst Mourinho made 11 changes at the break, that was the end of the scoring.

Whilst Mourinho will mostly be focusing on fitness and getting his players into form ahead of the new Premier League season, he will also be delighted to see Lukaku open his account for the club.

The Belgian centre forward completed a blockbuster move to Old Trafford last week after hitting 25 Premier League goals for Everton last season, and he will now be called upon for goals after Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s departure.

During and after the game, United fans took to Twitter to react to Lukaku’s display, with many pleased with his all-round performance and the way in which he took his goal.

However, the main topic of conversation surrounded Lukaku’s inconsistent first touch, with some massively concerned about his technique and others not so worried as long as he continues to find the back of the net.
