Just days after starting Manchester United’s first pre-season friendly match, James Wilson was left off the Red Devils’ squad list for the pre-season tour of China.
Wilson failed to shine at the DW Stadium against Wigan Athletic, and new boss Jose Mourinho was evidently not impressed with what he saw from the young striker.

When the club unveiled their 25 man squad list for the tour, Wilson was not on it, despite a spot opening up in attack with star signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic being rested.
His place was taken by Will Keane, who scored at the weekend, but had generally been viewed as a player who Wilson had overtaken.
With Marcus Rashford ahead also in the pecking order, Wilson looks like he will have to go out on loan in order to progress his career.

He did not progress under Louis van Gaal, and his loan spell at Brighton last season was underwhelming.
United fans are split on whether they should give up on him and write him off, or whether this would be a big mistake.
