Manchester United put in arguably their best performance of the season this weekend – but poor finishing meant they did not take their raft of clear cut chances, leaving Joe Allen to equalise for Stoke City with only a few minutes remaining.

United had taken the lead shortly after the hour-mark through substitute Anthony Martial, and that goal looked like sealing a well-deserved three points for Jose Mourinho’s men.

But some wastefulness in front of goal came back to haunt United when Allen took advantage of a spill from the hosts’ goalkeeper David de Gea, leaving Mourinho scratching his head wondering how on earth his side let two vital points slip.

United played Daley Blind at left-back in the absence of Luke Shaw and the Dutch international came in for criticism from some after the final whistle for his play in the build up to the goal.
