Manchester United have been linked to Arsenal ace Aaron Ramsey.
Wales’ Aaron Ramsey in action
Euro 2016 has led to a lull in transfer market activity – but last night saw one of the most outrageous transfer rumours of the summer break.
The Sun claimed Jose Mourinho is considering a £50 million bid to sign Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, speculation which United fans can barely believe.
Aaron Ramsey scores v Russia
Ramsey has been impressive for Wales at Euro 2016 but his performances last season for Arsenal were not those of a £50 million player.
Indeed at Arsenal he faces a battle for his place next season with Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny signed in midfield over the past six months, although his European Championship displays certainly indicate Arsene Wenger would be missing a trick by not playing him regularly.

Manchester United have several options in midfield and as excellent as Ramsey can be, they can get better value for £50 million.
New manager Jose Mourinho is reported to be a fan but long serving Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is unlikely to want to strengthen his rival, and nor do the Gunners need the money either.

Arsenal sold Robin van Persie to United in 2013 and Wenger was heavily criticised for it. Already under pressure, he will not want to do anything like selling Ramsey to United, and invite more flak his way.
United fans are not particularly impressed with the rumours. Here is a look at the reaction via Twitter…
