Tottenham’s comeback win over Ajax has grabbed the headlines.
Tottenham Hotspur are into the Champions League final after staging a miraculous fightback to beat Ajax 3-2 last night.
Having lost the first leg 1-0, Spurs needed to score in Amsterdam, but fell behind early on as Matthijs de Ligt scored for Ajax, doubling their lead on aggregate.
Hakim Ziyech then appeared to kill off Tottenham hopes with a stunning second on the night, hammering a left-footed drive past Hugo Lloris from the edge of the box.
Spurs appeared dead and buried as they needed three goals, but a quickfire second half brace from Lucas Moura set up a tense final 30 minutes – and Spurs somehow got the winner.
Moura’s 95th minute winner sends Spurs into the final in Madrid next month, with the Tottenham players celebrating wildly – as you’d well expect – ahead of their final meeting with Liverpool.
The stunning fightback has dominated the headlines since the final whistle, and England duo Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho both took to Twitter to marvel at the comeback.
Both England stars were stunned at seeing Spurs win the game and head into the final, but their posts were somewhat hijacked.
Manchester United fans seemingly had no time for celebrating Tottenham’s success, as they immediately took to begging both players to join the Red Devils his summer – which may just help United close the gap to Champions League finalists Spurs.
