Real Madrid prospect wants Tottenham switch due to lack of chances, but this could change.
Real Madrid’s Mariano Diaz and Sergio Ramos during training
Real Madrid prospect Mariano Diaz is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur Diario Madridista report.
Diaz is interested in a switch after a lack of chances at Real, although he has made positive progress this past season.
While hardly a household name compared to the superstars in Real’s attack, Diaz managed to make 14 appearances and score four goals.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane
After coming through Real’s youth system he is well known to manager Zinedine Zidane, and more opportunities could be around the corner.
This is due to Alvaro Morata’s potential exit, with the Spanish international in talks over a £78 million transfer to Manchester United, The Independent report.
Morata made 40 appearances for Real Madrid this past season, and his departure would enhance Diaz’s chances of playing time.
Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata celebrates
At Tottenham Diaz would not exactly be walking right into the starting line-up.
Spurs play with one up front, and Harry Kane is the clear first choice. Diaz may even be behind Vincent Janssen in the pecking order, who is looking to bounce back from an underwhelming first season.
Diaz might just have a better chance of playing first team football if he stays put and fights for his chances at Real for another 12 months, to try and build on the steps he made last season.
