Spurs are trying to sign Barcelona’s out of favour attacker Malcom.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly trying to lure Barcelona’s Malcom to north London and are becoming increasingly likely to land the Brazilian – and Manchester United could help them get a deal over the line.
Spanish outlet Sport claimed earlier this week that Spurs remain in talks with Barca over a loan-to-buy deal for the 21-year-old, who has struggled under Ernesto Valverde since his move to the Nou Camp from Bordeaux.
The report by Sport also claims Chinese Super League side Guangzhou Evergrande could scupper a deal, though, after they offered Barcelona £44million to sign Malcom permanently now.
This is where Manchester United could help Spurs land the uncapped Brazilian, with the use of target man Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian is allowed to leave Old Trafford this month, for a fee of £15million.
The Mirror claim Fellaini is interesting AC Milan, FC Porto and indeed Guangzhou Evergrande this month, with the club willing to sell the Belgium international for about £12million less than what they paid for him.
Chinese Super League sides are only allowed four foreign players in their squads, and Evergrande currently boast three in Anderson Talisca, ex-Spurs and Barcelona star Paulinho and Alan – who has 58 goals in 102 games for the Chinese side.
So, United can help Spurs by selling Fellaini to Evergrande. That would mean Evergrande’s foreign slots are filled, and would not be able to sign Malcom – giving Spurs a clear shot at signing the Barcelona attacker.
Whether Fellaini would prefer a move to China over the illustrious lure of AC Milan, or the chance to win titles with Porto is another question. But selling him to Evergrande would give Spurs a much better chance of signing Malcom.
