Chris Sutton has predicted on BBC Sport that Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will lose the Manchester derby to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at Old Trafford this weekend.
Manchester United will lock horns with Manchester City at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Manchester derby is scheduled to kick off at 12:30pm UK time.
Former Chelsea striker and BBC Sport pundit Sutton believes that defending champions City will pick up all three points from the encounter courtesy of a 2-1 win.
Chris Sutton predicts Manchester United v Manchester City
Sutton wrote: “Guardiola says he has had some ‘ridiculous’ ideas about how his side will beat United, but I am pretty sure it will include giving Erling Haaland a start.
“He will play his best side and, if they perform anything like they can do, they will win – it’s as simple as that.
“I was very confident City would absolutely smash United in October, and it turned out I didn’t go big enough with my prediction – I said 4-1 and it ended up 6-3.
“It will be a lot closer this time, but Pep will still collect the points.”
A footnote added: “Sutton’s prediction: 1-2.”

Who will win the Manchester derby?
In our view, Manchester City will head into the Manchester derby against Manchester United as favourites.
However, we expect the match at Old Trafford to end in a draw.
United have improved a lot over the past few months under Ten Hag.
Marcus Rashford is in great form at the moment, and Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are doing well at the back.
Yes, Erling Haaland is in superb form, but we think that United will keep it tight at the back and will ask questions of the City defence.
