The Manchester City striker would be a smart signing for Burnley.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche has another busy summer ahead of him at Turf Moor, as he looks to reinvest the £25 million the club received following Michael Keane’s sale to Everton.

The Burnley manager will surely be scouring the market from top to bottom in an attempt to bring some genuine quality to the club during the off-season, after telling reporters of his intention to strengthen all over his squad today, as quoted by the Lancashire Telegraph:

“We’re still carrying quite light numbers and I think we need more players in, which we’re actively looking at at the moment, but we don’t want too many, we like that idea of having a real tight squad and that real competition for places in all areas.”

One area where the Lancashire outfit undoubtedly need to improve is the attacking department, and a useful option for them could be Manchester City hitman Wilfried Bony, who has been told that he can leave the Etihad this summer, according to the Sun.

The 28-year-old moved to City from Swansea in January 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £28 million, but failed to establish himself as a first-team regular.

He proved during his time in Wales, however, that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League, especially when playing in a team built around his strengths.

Dyche likes his team to play in a direct manner, with a powerful striker acting as the focal point to their attacking play, and Bony would slot into that system with minimal fuss.

He is still under contract for another two years with City, however, so Burnley will have to dig deep in order to get their man.

If the Clarets do manage to bring the Ivorian to Turf Moor though, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance.
