Ray Parlour thinks Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool now have an ‘advantage’ over Manchester City in signing Jude Bellingham during the summer transfer window.

The Highbury legend thinks the Premier League charges handed out to Manchester City for alleged financial breaches could affect the club’s business during the next window.

At this moment in time, everything is seemingly up in the open.

Of course, those in the Etihad boardroom will contest these charges, but could an end verdict be delivered within these next few weeks or months? Or is this something that will still be dragging on in 12 months’ time?

At the end of the day, it took the Premier League four years to put forward these charges.

Nonetheless, Ray Parlour thinks Liverpool could have the upper hand in signing England midfield sensation Bellingham when the transfer window re-opens, as he told talkSPORT (08/02/23 at 6:40 am).

“Yes, you will be a little put-off (a player wanting to sign for Man City re PL charges),” said Parlour. “But you will get proper advice. You will sit down with their team, go through everything and see what scenario is going to happen.

“All it does is it gives an advantage to other clubs who are going to be competing with you.

“Let’s take the likes of Bellingham. Liverpool need a midfielder. I am sure they will be interested in Bellingham straight away. Real Madrid (as well).

“Teams like that, you might get a little bit more of an advantage, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to what’s going on at Manchester City.”

IF MAN CITY LOSE THE TITLE…

The interesting thing here is how will Man City and Pep Guardiola react in the transfer market if Arsenal are the champions of England in May?

In truth, it might not bode well for the rest because they may feel the need to put their foot down on the accelerator. It also needs to be noted that they are innocent until proven guilty re these charges.

And, in terms of finances, only Newcastle United can compete with them.

Either way, whilst some may think Man City don’t need a Bellingham in their team because they are stacked in the middle of the park, it needs to be remembered, it hasn’t stopped them before from spending big money on positions they don’t necessarily need to bulk up on.
