The Manchester City midfielder has been heavily linked with a permanent switch to Celtic, but West Ham United should enter the race for his signature.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has a lot of work to do this summer, as he looks to bring some genuine quality to the club in an effort to improve upon on last season’s 11th placed finish in the Premier League table.

One particular area of concern for the Croatian will be his attacking department, with the addition of a talented attacking wide-man thought to feature highly on his agenda, following Dimitri Payet’s acrimonious exit from the club in January, and Robert Snodgrass failing to settle in east London.

With this in mind, West Ham should consider a bold move for Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts, who is already attracting the attention of up to 12 clubs, according to BBC Sport.

The exceptionally talented 20-year-old has been on loan with Celtic since February 2016, showcasing his magnificent skill and ability during his time at Parkhead.

The former Fulham man can be deployed anywhere along the front-line, but is most comfortable in the right-wing position, cutting inside on to his left foot.

After Snodgrass’ struggles at the London Stadium, Roberts would surely be a substantial upgrade on the Scot, and the Hammers should consider allowing their January signing to leave this summer, and attempt to replace him with City’s 20-year-old winger.

He is under contract at the Etihad until the summer of 2020, and with so many clubs reportedly keen on signing him, he will certainly not come cheap, but Bilic should make the addition of Roberts his priority this summer, if he truly wants to improve his side, whilst planning for the future at the same time.
