Manchester City are interested in David Villa, according to the latest reports from Spain.
Spanish newspaper AS have claimed David Villa is a target for Manchester City.
The Barcelona striker is said be growing increasingly frustrated with life at the Nou Camp under Tito Vilanova and is open to a move.
The report claims that Manchester City and Juventus are the two teams who have joined the race for the Spanish goalscorer, and makes no mention of previous reported interest from Liverpool.
AS says that City are hoping to make the move work by selling or loaning Mario Balotelli to make space in attack for a new striker.
It goes onto add that Villa would be intrigued by the challenge of helping City battle back to try and retain the Premier League title and add to his burgeoning medal collection.
City have previously been linked La Liga ace Falcao, but Villa could be brought at a knock-down price making him perfect value for money.
He would become City’s third Spaniard in their ranks, joining David Silva and Javi Garcia, and wouldn’t be the first transaction between the two clubs this year.
Earlier this season, City lost promising youngster Joan Angel Roman to Barcelona, after spending more than two years with City’s Elite Development Squad.
