Manchester City’s dismal run at Anfield is finally over after thrashing Liverpool 4-1 this evening.

City hadn’t won in the Premier League at Anfield since a 2-1 win way back in 2003, but were imperious today.

Ilkay Gundogan atoned for a penalty miss by opening the scoring, and even though Mohamed Salah equalised, City ran riot.

Gundogan put City in front, Raheem Sterling added a third and Phil Foden slammed home a fourth to leave Liverpool embarrassed.

City were understandably delighted to end their hoodoo at Anfield, and they now sit 10 points clear of Liverpool in the table with a game in hand.

The joy was clear on Twitter, as City’s official account tweeted out just three words to really rub in the humiliation.

Liverpool’s motto has been ‘this means more’, with the phrase seen around Anfield and all over social media campaigns.

When Foden smashed in the fourth, City took to Twitter to repurpose the motto as ‘this means four’, with City fans falling over themselves laughing at their rivals following a complete annihilation today.
