Inter Milan could reportedly lower Alessandro Bastoni’s asking price to as low as €55m (£50m) if they were to miss out on a top-four finish, with Manchester City and Tottenham eyeing the defender.

According to Inter Live, the Nerazzurri are prepared to let go some of their key players for below their transfer valuation in order to combat their growing financial problems, with Bastoni one name who could go for just £50m despite being one of the best centre-backs in world football.

The 23-year-old is wanted by City and Tottenham as both Premier League clubs look to add the Italian international to their ranks this summer, and Inter missing out on top-four as well as crashing out of the UEFA Champions League this season could result in Bastoni leaving the San Siro for cheap.

Labelled as a ‘perfect’ summer signing for Premier League clubs as per FC Inter News, Bastoni is regarded by many as the best left-sided centre-back aged 24 or under, and as a result, it’s no wonder why the likes of City and Tottenham are chasing the Inter star.

Indeed, Bastoni was named Man of the Match in Inter’s recent 2-0 win against Benfica in the Champions League quarter-finals, yet with Simone Inzaghi’s side hardly the favourites to go all the way in Europe and their Serie A position looking precarious, there’s a good chance that the defender could be available at a bargain price.

Moreover, with £50m+ signings becoming common place in the Premier League, City and Tottenham will have no problem in match Inter’s new asking price for Bastoni should the Italian giants fail to qualify for the Champions League, with the English duo alluring options for the defender.

At £50m, Bastoni could be viewed by many teams as a bargain signing, with the Italian international one of the leading defensive figures in world football and a talent who is only getting better with each new season. And as a result, City and Tottenham could face competition for the centre-back.

Whilst the two Premier League sides have the resources to fight off most clubs, teams such as Liverpool or even Chelsea entering the fray could cause some massive problems, with Bastoni slowly becoming a man in demand in the final weeks of the season.
