Manchester City want Marc Cucurella, potentially damaging Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing the Brighton and Hove Albion star.
Cucurella only joined Brighton last summer in a £15million move from Getafe.
The Seagulls activated Cucurella’s release clause and lured him to the South Coast.
That move is now looking like a masterstroke after Cucurella enjoyed a superb first season at Brighton.
Cucurella has recorded one goal and one assist in 34 Premier League games whilst producing outstanding displays down the left flank.
The 23-year-old has been hailed as ‘amazing’ by teammate Lewis Dunk and is now attracting major interest.

The Daily Mail now report that Manchester City have identified Cucurella as a top target for this summer.
It’s stated that City will make a £30million move to sign Cucurella in the hope of him solving their left back issues.
Oleksandr Zinchenko isn’t of the quality City need, Joao Cancelo may prefer playing on the right side and Benjamin Mendy is out of the picture.
Having a natural left back would be ideal for City and Cucurella fits the bill for Pep Guardiola.
Cucurella came through Barcelona’s La Masia academy just like Guardiola did and they could now join forces.
That £30million would be double Brighton’s money on Cucurella inside a year but would be a huge blow for Tottenham Hotspur.
TuttoJuve reported earlier this month that Tottenham are rivalling Juventus in the race for Cucurella.
Antonio Conte doesn’t seem convinced by Sergio Reguilon and would want a natural left wing back for his 3-4-3 system at Tottenham.
Cucurella would be able to play that role perfectly but you could hardly blame him for preferring City.
City are regular contenders for the Premier League and Champions League, certainly more so than Tottenham.
Cucurella may though be in and out at City compared to a starring role at Tottenham, which could give Spurs some hope.
