Manchester City have hit the woodwork more than any other team this season to date.

Manchester City are unofficially the unluckiest team in the Premier League so far this season, hitting the woodwork more than any other.

They have struck the post or bar six times in seven games, and dropped points as a result.

League leaders Chelsea by contrast have been more fortunate – or more clinical, hitting the woodwork half the amount of times, and scoring 50 per cent more goals.

The matches City have been unlucky in can be broken down below, including twice in the weekend win over Aston Villa, of little consequence.

City did however hit the woodwork twice against Arsenal in a 2-2 away draw, and once in the surprise loss to Stoke City.

On such fine margins are point won and lost, and City could so easily have been three points better off (an extra two against the Gunners and one against Stoke).

That would have lifted them to only two points behind league leaders Chelsea, who hit the framework of the goal in games they were victorious in.
