Manchester City target joins League One club amid Leeds United links

Leeds United won’t be signing Kian Breckin this summer after the Manchester City talent joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan.

Manchester City youngster Kian Breckin has completed a loan move to Wycombe Wanderers after links to Leeds United.

Leeds have appointed their new manager with Daniel Farke coming in to replace Sam Allardyce.

Transfer business at Elland Road is now expected to ramp up now, both in terms of ins and outs.

The likes of Tyler Adams, Wilfried Gnonto, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison are bound to attract huge interest in the coming weeks.

Leeds will have their own targets in mind but one player believed to be on their list has moved elsewhere.

Wycombe Wanderers win Kian Breckin race

The Daily Mail reported in May that Leeds were a prime contender to sign Manchester City talent Kian Breckin.

It was suggested that Leeds would battle Newcastle for Breckin’s signature with City allegedly open to selling.

Well, City haven’t sold Breckin and have in fact sent him out on loan to a League One side instead.

Wycombe Wanderers have today announced the capture of Breckin on a season-long loan deal.

This feels like a huge capture for the Chairboys, who will be looking for Breckin to make a huge impact in League One.

The 19-year-old – the son of former Nottingham Forest defender Ian Breckin – hit eight goals and four assists in 24 Premier League games last season.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Breckin will now look to gain valuable first-team experience before heading back to City.

It would be wise for Leeds to track Breckin during his time with Wycombe.

City are often selling off their young talent, from Gavin Bazunu, Romeo Lavia and Darko Gyabi last summer to Shea Charles this summer.

Breckin could be available in 2024 and Leeds should keep tabs on his progress in League One.

If Breckin shines in the third tier, Leeds may well be tempted to put in a cash bid and attempt to bring the youngster to Yorkshire.

This is an interesting move for Breckin as he looks to establish himself in the senior games and Leeds may well be watching closely.
