Manchester City defender Luke Mbete appears to have a huge future ahead of him – but where that future will be remains a mystery.

The 17-year-old is already playing Premier League 2 football with City, and his performances have started to attract interest.

The Athletic claim that Leeds United want to sign Mbete, whilst Juventus are also keen to sign the teenager.

Pep Guardiola did name Mbete on the bench for the Premier League clash with Chelsea earlier this month, and maybe that will end up convincing him to stay.

Mbete has now spoken to UMM, being asked a host of questions about his career and his personality – and one answer may give City fans confidence that Mbete will stay.

Mbete was asked who his biggest inspiration is, and the young defender went with former City hero Vincent Kompany.

Having arrived from Brentford, Mbete doesn’t have any long-lasting emotional ties to City, but picked one of their biggest leaders in recent history as the player he admires most.

Mbete noted that he wants to be a leader and a powerful player just like Kompany, but doesn’t want to just be known as a Kompany clone.

“Vincent Kompany,” said Mbete. “Obviously, he’s a leader and I try put that into my game. He’s a powerful player as well. Obviously, I try to change it up as well because I don’t want to be known as his understudy,” he added.
