Forgotten Manchester City man John Guidetti could be set to depart the Etihad with Feyenoord closing in on a deal for the Swede.
John Guidetti looks set to wave goodbye to Manchester City amid reports suggesting the 22-year-old Swede is set to move to the Eredivisie.
According to Dutch news source Algemeen Dagblad, Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel has contacted the Premier League giants over a potential move for the forgotten forward.
The Eredivisie side could pay as much as £4 million to land Guidetti, who excelled during a previous loan spell with the Dutch club.
Guidetti scored 20 goals in 23 league games for the club during the 2011/12 Eredivisie season in a return that saw him earn a call-up to the Sweden national side.
Feyenoord were thought to be keen on making the move a permanent one come the end of the campaign but Guidetti resisted, opting to return to the Etihad and fight for a place in the City first team.
Once back in Manchester, however, the youngster struggled with a series of unfortunate injuries that hindered both his progress at the club and first team opportunities.
A loan spell with Stoke City last term also proved unsuccessful, with Guidetti featuring just six times during a troubled stay in which he was accused of criticising manager Mark Hughes in the media.
Feyenoord could therefore offer the ideal escape route for a player who promised so much in his younger days and could yet become a star of the world game.
The Dutch club are on the lookout for a striker following the departure of Eredivisie goal machine Graziano Pelle to Southampton.
The Italian has moved to St Mary’s, where he will link-up with former boss Ronald Koeman.
Meanwhile, it’s unknown as to whether City will look to include a buy-back clause in any deal with Feyenoord for Guidetti.
