Demolished 3-1 by Bayern Munich, Manchester City’s official Twitter account felt perhaps it was still a game from which they could have gained a point.
After two disappointing Champions League seasons in a row, Manchester City might have felt they were due a bit of luck. And then they were drawn in a group with Bayern Munich.
The holders visited the Etihad last night and put on an absolute clinic from start to finish, winning 3-1 – and this was without the injured Javi Martinez and Thiago Alcantara.
Bayern Munich had a dominant 66 per cent possession, having 20 shots on goal to City’s nine. Ribery, Robben and Muller scored the goals while City substitute Alvaro Negredo netted a late consolation.
Yet despite Bayern’s brilliance, Manchester City’s official Twitter feed suggested they were not too far away from claiming a point.
Well, you can’t blame them for being optimistic. They did at least go onto praise Bayern’s win as ‘deserved’.
City fans what did you make of last night’s loss?
