Manchester City are in the race to sign Ecuadorian talent Kendry Paez but face a battle with both Chelsea and Manchester United.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the race for Paez is already heating up.

“Chelsea want him and Chelsea are absolutely in contact to sign Kendry Paez,” said Romano. “Also Manchester United and Manchester City are exploring the conditions of the deal. Also we have to include Bayer Leverkusen in the list of the clubs interested in Kendry Paez. Super young talent so it will take some time to see him in Europe performing, but all of these clubs are monitoring Kendry Paez as a top talent for present and future,” he added.

Ecuadorian talents seem to be in demand right now.

Moises Caicedo is almost certain to move on from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer having thrived since leaving Independiente del Valle.

Pervis Estupinan and Jeremy Sarmiento are both in the Brighton squad too, with the Seagulls enjoying developing three Ecuadorian talents.

Add in Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie and Real Valladolid winger Gonazlo Plata and it looks like Ecuadorian talents are rising rapidly.

Paez could be one of the next to make a big move with City, United and Chelsea now chasing a deal.

Who is Manchester City and Manchester United target Kendry Paez?

We’re not trying to make you feel old here but Paez was born in 2007, meaning he is just 15.

Paez wasn’t even born when Zinedine Zidane headbutted Marco Materazzi for instance.

The teenager currently plays for Independiente del Valle in Ecuador, the same club who developed Caicedo.

Paez has hit three goals in five caps for Ecuador’s Under-17’s and senior caps will surely come for him one day.

An attack-minded midfielder with outstanding ability on the ball, Paez looks to be a hugely exciting talent for the future.

United famously squandered a chance to sign Caicedo and may want to rectify their mistake by signing Paez.

City will offer major competition though and it sounds like Chelsea are pushing already, even if he wouldn’t actually be able to move to England until the age of 18.
