Manchester City want Kalvin Phillips and are ready to make contact over a deal once his international commitments are over.

Pep Guardiola’s men won the Premier League title in dramatic fashion, beating Aston Villa 3-2 on the final day of the season.

City are a juggernaut but they still need to bring in new faces with Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez both arriving this summer.

Guardiola will still want another left back whilst a holding midfielder is another priority for City given that Fernandinho is leaving the club this summer.

Manchester City want Kalvin Phillips

City will ultimately want another holding midfield player to compete with Rodri in front of Guardiola’s back four.

Their top target for that role now appears to be Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips.

ESPN report that Guardiola admires Phillips and director of football Txiki Begiristain is supporting a move too.

Leeds staying in the Premier League has complicated matters though, with the Whites strengthening their bargaining position by avoiding relegation.

Still, City will make contact with Leeds once Phillips is done with the England national team commitments.

England still have two more games in this international period, first against Italy on Saturday before again facing Hungary on Tuesday.

Phillips was taken off injured against Germany last night and it currently looks like he won’t be featuring against Italy.

Still, City will wait for this international period to be over before making their move for Phillips, which ends in around seven days.

This is what Leeds fans feared; clubs queueing up to sign Phillips and put them under pressure to sell.

Joining a Champions League giant like City would surely appeal to Phillips even with his lifelong love of Leeds.

Leeds have to demand at least £50million for Phillips and fans would surely understand him joining City more so than Manchester United.

The coming weeks will be a nervous time for Leeds, with City ready and waiting to make their move for Phillips.
