Newcastle United are interested in signing former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko from Inter Milan in the January transfer window, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that Newcastle manager Eddie Howe wants to sign a new striker this month.

Callum Wilson is injured at the moment, and the Magpies are in real danger of getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

90min have claimed that Newcastle have enquired about Edin Dzeko, but Inter have rebuffed them.

The defending Italian champions reportedly do not want to sell the Bosnia and Herzegovina international striker.

Edin Dzeko to Newcastle United is unlikely

In our view, it is very unlikely that Newcastle will be able to sign Edin Dzeko in the middle of the season.

Inter are the defending Italian champions and are could win the Serie A title again this season.

There is no way that the Nerazzurri will sell the 35-year-old now.

Inter are a point clear at the top of the Serie A table with a game in hand.

Dzeko has made 13 starts and five substitute appearances in Serie A so far this season.

The former Manchester City striker has scored eight goals and provided three assists in those games.

The Inter no. 9 has scored three goals and provided one assist in six Champions League matches.
