Manchester City are set to face Everton in Premier League action at the weekend.
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has told his side’s official website that Everton received a big boost this season following the appointment of Ronald Koeman.
Aguero rates Koeman highly as a manager, and he believes the Dutch boss has helped Everton improve this term.
The Toffees badly disappointed last season under Roberto Martinez, but Aguero is expecting a tough test when his City side face Everton at the weekend.
“Koeman’s arrival was a big boost for them,” the Argentine striker said. “I believe that he was able to strengthen the areas that Roberto Martinez had developed, regardless of their performances last season.
“This season, they’ve made a superb start and that’s why the Premier League is such an appealing prospect to any player.”
Everton are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table, and if they are able to cause an upset at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow, they would move to within one point of City.
Everton have only lost one match so far this season – against Bournemouth – but their form did dip slightly before the international break.
City’s performance levels also dropped before the two week hiatus from Premier League action.
Pep Guardiola’s side remain at the top of the Premier League table, but they lost for the first time under the Spanish boss to Tottenham Hotspur in their last outing.
