Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Real Madrid ace Marcos Llorente this summer, according to a report from Spanish publication Don Diario, and some City fans took to Twitter in reaction to the speculation.

The defensive midfielder, 24, is reportedly rated at around €65 million (£56 million), and Manchester City will surely be viewing the Spaniard as a long-term replacement fro Fernandinho.

Llorente can also fill in at centre-back, so he would certainly be a useful addition to the Cityzens’ squad.

Is he really worth £56m, however?

Manchester City have plenty of money, but there is no reason to be throwing large sums of cash around trying to buy players who are by no means world class.

Llorente is a decent player, but would he help take City to another level? Very doubtful indeed.
