Manchester City are through to yet another Carabao Cup final having beaten Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

City have won five of the last seven League Cup finals, and reached three finals in a row before looking to make it four in a row last night.

Pep Guardiola’s men claimed a 1-0 lead in the second half as John Stones turned home Phil Foden’s free kick, and Fernandinho drilled home a second to seal a 2-0 win.

City now head into yet another final, and will take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium in April, with Guardiola taking on Jose Mourinho once again.

Having impressed in the 3-1 win at Chelsea on Sunday, City followed that victory up with another fine display last night, and Fernandinho deserves huge praise.

The 36-year-old was somewhat surprisingly named as a starter ahead of Rodri, and he rewarded Guardiola’s decision with a superb goal.

Fernandinho is a City legend at this point, and fans took to Twitter to rave about his performance against their bitter city rivals.

Some called Fernandinho ‘world class’, ‘immaculate’ and ‘absolutely incredible’, marvelling at just how good he still is so late in his career, suggesting that it simply doesn’t make sense.
