Manchester City came out on top in the Manchester derby in a 2-1 victory

Manchester City secured an all-important three points against rivals Manchester United on Saturday in a derby that didn’t disappoint.

Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoreline in the 15th minute with a great finish before Kelechi Iheanacho put City 2-0 up 20 minutes later. Pep Guardiola’s side dominated the game in the first half, but an error from new goalkeeper Claudio Bravo allowed Zlatan Ibrahimović to put United back in the game.

Bravo’s debut didn’t get off to a great start, as his mistake could have been crucial to City’s result – the keeper will be grateful that his error did not end up costing Guardiola’s team the game.

Guardiola will be pleased with his side’s performance and victory against rival manager Jose Mourinho, whilst United will be disappointed that they couldn’t salvage something.

United’s defeat ends the Red Devils’ unbeaten start to the season, and City now sit top of the table with four wins from four.

Fans took to Twitter to react to City’s victory and Bravo’s mistake.
