John Stones headed City in front against Spurs, reaching Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick to score before Raheem Sterling broke clear of the Tottenham defence to slide the ball past Michel Vorm for 2-0.
Brahim Diaz’s close-range goal late in the day sealed a 3-0 win for City, who were able to hand a start to new signing Kyle Walker against his former club.
Walker, 27, left Tottenham earlier this month in order to join City in a big-money deal, and Guardiola had no issues starting him against his former employers, despite the predictable heckling from Spurs fans.
The England ace spent eight years in North London following a 2009 move from Sheffield United, but having felt that it was time to move on, he joined City in pursuit of the Premier League title.

Walker enjoyed a fine game against his former club, putting the boos and jeers of Spurs fans to the back of his mind as he posed a constant threat out wide, impressing City fans in the process.
City fans took to Twitter during and after this morning’s game to hail Walker, claiming his pace brings a new dimension to the City side, with some poking fun at Spurs fans for thinking that Kieran Trippier – the Tottenham defender once of Manchester City – is a better right back than Walker is.
