Manchester City were in scintillating form on Sunday afternoon as they beat Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola’s men swept the Blues aside in the first half, with Ilkay Gundogan and Phil Foden firing them in a two-goal lead.

Kevin De Bruyne added number three, and whilst Callum Hudson-Odoi pulled one back late on, it couldn’t take the gloss off a thumping win for City.

With Liverpool taking just two points from their last two games, City are now just four points off top spot – and have a game in hand on the Reds, which will become two tonight.

Guardiola may well hope for a title push now after some patchy displays this season, and City’s new-found defensive solidity is a huge bonus.

City decided to splash the cash on a new defender over the summer, spending a huge £65million to sign Ruben Dias from Benfica.

Some were bemused with that decision, but City have been proven right so far, with the Portuguese international turning in some huge displays since his arrival.

Now, City fans have been hailing Dias following his performance against Chelsea, branding him ‘immense’ and a ‘monster’ whilst comparing him to Vincent Kompany thanks to his leadership ability.

Some even feel that Dias is having the same impact that Virgil van Dijk had at Liverpool, completely changing City’s defensive setup and stability on his own.
